From English literature to sci-fi and fantasy, Rush’s work is a musical voyage. The trio’s complex compositions also earned them several Grammy Award nominations and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their story is indeed impressive, from their first show in a church basement to sold-out stadiums across the globe. The whole song, and especially the ending line, is so flexible that each listener can assign their own meaning. The music is absolutely wonderful, and light and dark at the same time. It's so beautiful and diverse.ġ) The Trees - Again, I just connect with this song on such a primal level. I still get chills, I still love the story, and I still listen intently for every note of each instrument. But seriously, as my dad introduced me to Rush at birth, I have listened to this song hundreds of times in my life. This is truly the magic music that makes my morning mood.Ģ) 2112 - Trite, I know. I can't listen to this song and be grumpy afterward. :)ģ) Spirit of Radio - My favorite driving song. I love the industrial sound of this song. I identify with it on a primal level.Ĥ) Force Ten - I absolutely love the drums. I just love this song purely for it's nutso composition.ĥ) Subdivisions - I've always felt very attached to this song. What I do know is that it has got to be especially difficult to pull of such crazy time changes and vastly differentiating spacey sounds, and Lerx's furious fretwork. This song is super tough, and the lyrics are hitting me hard as I approach 30.Ĩ) Red Sector A - I've always loved the stories they tell, but this one is especially tough and I think it's one of the most perfectly matched songs (lyrics & music) ever!ħ) Natural Science - I'm not a musician, and I don't understand music all that well.
I preferred the older stuff for a long time, but the more I listened to S&A and Vapor Trails, the more I grew to love it. I do.ĩ) Far Cry - This was a surprise to me, as I was not really into the new Rush stuff yet. It's great music, (of course), but I'm well aware that a lot of people don't like it.
